Custom: room for a specific experience or workflow.
Consider a custom build for interactions or workflows that need to be designed together. These may involve booking, records or integrations. An editing interface is not automatic; a CMS must be agreed in scope.
Check who can update text, how changes are requested and who maintains the application after launch. Clarify these costs and responsibilities before choosing.
WordPress: when publishing matters.
WordPress includes pages, posts, media and user roles. Consider it when your team needs a content editor. Themes and plugins can add capabilities, with their own suitability and maintenance needs.
Check hosting, theme and plugin renewals, backups, updates and ownership of admin access. LH’s standard WordPress build fee starts at RM2,500; quoted scope defines the included pages, functions and plugins.
Shopify: when product sales are the main workflow.
Consider Shopify when products, collections, checkout and orders are central requirements. Capabilities depend on the plan, theme, apps, location and payment provider.
LH’s standard build fee starts at RM2,500, separately from Shopify subscriptions, apps, themes and payment fees. Check current rates and eligibility directly with providers; this guide does not set third-party prices.
Four questions before choosing.
- What must customers complete: an enquiry, booking, purchase or account task?
- Who will edit the content, and how often?
- Which tools or data need connecting?
- Who owns updates, access, recovery and recurring costs?
A practical starting point.
A service website with infrequent content changes can start with a simple build. A team publishing regularly should evaluate WordPress. A business needing product checkout should evaluate Shopify. Discuss specialised workflows as custom scope.
A platform alone does not guarantee rankings or enquiries. Content, evidence, customer experience and operations after the click still need attention.
